Donald Michael Maslanka, 75, of Fennville, MI went to his eternal rest on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Holland Hospital.
Born September 29.1948 in South Holland, IL, he was the eldest son of the late Joseph and Vivian (Violante) Maslanka and faithful husband of Dianna Marie (Klimala) Maslanka of over 52 years.
Donald was a devout Catholic, active in the church throughout his life, including membership in the Blue Army World Apostolate of Fatima, Knights of Columbus and as custodian of a family chapel for many years.
He served his country, enlisting in the US Army serving one full term in the intelligence division, where he learned about computer programing and technology. He used this knowledge to obtain employment with Illinois Bell, where he watched it transition into today’s AT&T before retiring after 30 years.
An automobile enthusiast, Donald enjoyed watching racing and tinkering with cars (quite successfully). He loved the outdoors and had a passion for gardening and epic grilling sessions. He was also an avid history buff with a fervor for learning about civilizations. He also enjoyed video games on occasion and would often make it a game competing for (or finding) the remote controls.
Above all, Donald was an extremely loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and was always dedicated to his family, providing for and loving them unconditionally.
In addition to his beloved wife Dianna, he is survived by his children, Angela (Anthony) Maslanka-DiCosola, Dona Maslanka, Vincent (Tamera) Maslanka, Mary Maslanka and Nicholas (Frances) Maslanka; grandchildren Luciano Maslanka, Madelynn Maslanka and Greyson Maslanka; Siblings Anthony, Joseph, Sharon, John, James, and Loretta; and a plethora of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Along with his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his sister Maria.
The family will receive friends at Chappell Funeral Home on Monday, April 22, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at St. Peter Catholic Church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Douglas Cemetery.
